Talking about the Indian market as per earlier Blog post the Indian market is blooming at a faster rate for Smart Phone and all the major companies like Apple,Samsung,Motorola from all over the world are trying to grab this opportunity to show their potential and grab the Indian market. There are more than 602 million active subscribers in India and and all of them trying to conquer this Sweet Pie kept in front of them as this is the only country left untouched by them in terms of Smartphone marketing.
But what is the reason the greats like Apple is facing trouble selling i phones in India the recent launch of iphone4s also didn't look to be that great surprise with shipping fewer handset to world's second-largest mobile -phone market as it does to Norway. The reason is the Nokia Oyj (NOK1V) and Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) have sold more devices in India so the market of Apple and others got down. But recent studies revealed that Indian market is forecast to grow almost 70 percent a year until 2015 helping mitigate the market share losses in U.S and rest of Europe.
.Since Indian wireless carriers which recently started 3G networks with advertising campaigns including Amitabh Bachhan's Son Abhishek Bachhan in one of the subscribers advertisement this year has yet to offer nationwide services fast enough to take advantage of iphone features says Gus Papageorgiou, an analyst at Scotia Capital Inc. in Toronto and this is one of the main reason why sales for the world's biggest company hindered in India.
Also since Networks in India are not favorable for Apple as they are in Western Europe and North America. And so RIM's got the right product at right time and with right app.By June 30 apple accounted 2.6 percent of smartphone shipment trailing RIM’s 15 percent, Samsung Electronics Co.’s 21 percent and Nokia’s 46 percent, IDC estimates.
Also one reason why Apple is lagging in India is Apple products aren’t working as they are not accesible in India because consumers can’t buy i Phones, i Pads and iTunes songs from company stores or its website. Apple sells through licensed resellers, including a Reliance Industries Ltd. subsidiary and Tata Group’s Croma.
But still Apple continues to invest in India as it is amongst the growing market for the company but still they need to improve in marketing as they are pathetic in that at least in concern with India no doubt they may not have seen it as a big enough market for their products to make it worthwhile.
Many dealers have suggestions as they don't think Apple is a brand for the masses but rather it is brand for the classes.
No doubt also the masses may be getting wealthier as India’s new five- year plan aims for 9 percent growth in gross domestic product. India last year joined the top dozen countries with the most millionaires, according to a report by Capgemini and Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management in June.
